Gujarat Govt. formed committee to implement Uniform Civil Code for first time

Setting the controversy again into motion, the Gujarat Government constituted a committee to check the feasibility of implementing the Uniform Civil Code in the state which is being perceived as a conspiracy to launch it on a pilot basis before being introduced throughout the country.

Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendrabhai Rajnikantbhai Patel, while twisting on his twitter, has informed that “A cabinet meeting was convened recently wherein it has been decided to constitute a high level committee under the supervision of a retired Judge either from Supreme Court or High Court this committee will decide where or not the CCC is necessary to implement in the state.”

He also informed that the committee will also prepare a draft plan over implementing the uniform civil code. With the promulgation of Uniform Civil Code all the citizens throughout the country have to follow one rule irrespective of their religious diversity. Apart from Marital and Devorce disputes, all the cases pertaining to property litigations should also be settled through the same uniform civil law and all must have to abide by it.

The Chief Minister’s statement came at a time when Gujarat is going for elections where Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is making inroads into various areas predominantly known as bastion of BJP.

Meanwhile, the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath convened a high level meeting with the officials of the Home Ministery and reviewed the measures being taken by the law and order, fire, women safety and other departments and passed necessary orders.

CM Yogi instructed the officials to ensure the police and SSP teams should carry out regular patrolling together on border areas. “Police should maintain better cooperation with the SSP as it is very important to maintain better law and order especially in the bordering areas,” he asserted.
