Harish Rao criticizes BJP chief JP Nadda for unkept promises

Health Minister T Harish Rao criticized BJP national president JP Nadda for failing to fulfill his promises made to fluoride victims of Nalgonda. Nadda is scheduled to visit the Munugode constituency to participate in the ongoing byelection campaign.

As the then-Union Health Minister, Nadda promised to build a 300-bed hospital at Marriguda and a fluoride research and mitigation center at Choutuppal when he visited the erstwhile Nalgonda district in 2016. Despite the TRS government’s allocation of 8.2 acres for the research and mitigation center at Choutuppal, there was no response from the union government till date.

Harish Rao escalated his attack on the BJP national president in a series of tweets on Thursday, questioning the fate of his promises that have remained unfulfilled for the past six years. “What happened to the promise of ‘fluoride research and mitigation center’ at Marriguda you made during a visit in 2016 as union Health Minister?” he asked.

He added that the Telangana government had allotted 8.2 acres in Choutuppal for this purpose, he pointed out that not even a single rupee was released for the Centre. “You have even promised to construct 300-bed hospital at Marriguda which was not fulfilled. How can you seek vote from the public making false promises? The people of Munugode will teach a lesson,” Harish Rao said.

Symbolic grave for Nadda

Meanwhile, unidentified individuals arranged a symbolic grave for Nadda on land designated for the proposed site of the Regional Fluoride Research and Mitigation Centre near Choutuppal. On the grave, they also put up a flexi with Nadda’s picture and the words “Regional Fluoride Research and Mitigation Centre.”

In response, several BJP leaders claimed that the TRS had sunk too low in light of the upcoming Munugode election. Smriti Irani, Union Minister, reacted to the incident by tweeting, “The party (TRS) has set a new low in Indian politics.”
