Health Minister Damodar Raja Narasimha has provided clarity on recent staff transfers at Osmania General Hospital and Gandhi Hospital in response to concerns about patient services.
In line with Government Order (GO) 80, which aims to ensure efficient hospital operations, approximately 40% of employees who had been stationed at the same hospital for extended periods have been reassigned. This move is part of a broader initiative to enhance operational efficiency and address long-standing staffing issues.
Minister Narasimha emphasized that the transfer process has been conducted with full transparency and without compromising the quality of patient care. “The transfers are designed to be seamless, ensuring there is no disruption to the hospitals’ performance or patient services,” he assured.

In response to the specific needs of super-specialty services, the Minister announced that specialty doctors have been exempted from these transfers to maintain the continuity of critical care. Additionally, a new batch of doctors and senior resident doctors has been appointed on a contractual basis as of March 2024, with a schedule for further hiring released on August 9, 2024.
The Minister also addressed concerns regarding staffing levels, stating that both Gandhi and Osmania hospitals are currently well-equipped with doctors, nurses, and paramedical staff to meet patient care requirements. “We have ensured that both hospitals have a sufficient number of healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive patient services,” Narasimha added.
This initiative is part of the government’s ongoing efforts to streamline hospital operations and improve healthcare delivery across the state.
