In an unexpected occurrence, a hearing and speech impaired couple killed themselves after their families wouldn’t approve of their marriage proposal.
Prior to killing themselves, the hearing and speech impaired couple recorded a selfie video in gesture-based communication, passing on their decision to take their lives to their families.
The occurrence happened close Palem town in Anumula Mandal of Telangana’s Nalgonda area on Thursday.
As per police, N. Ashwini, who was 20 years old, and Sheik Mastan Vali who was 27 years old, arrived at the outskirts of the village, poured petroleum on themselves, and committed self-immolation.
We got them identified from their identity cards which were found from the scene, said Veera Raghavulu, Circle Inspector, Halia Police Station.
The investigations of police uncovered that Ashwini, hailing from the Nizamabad locale of Telangana and Mastan from Guntur town of Andhra Pradesh became companions while working in the packing division of a global e-commerce goliath in Hyderabad. They experienced passionate feelings for each other and wanted to be married.
The girls’ family rejected the marriage proposition as Mastan was already married to a hearing and speech impaired woman.
The couple living independently in Hyderabad visited Nagarjuna Sagar two days back, before coming to Palem town to kill themselves. They sent a selfie video to their families educating them about their decision that they have chosen to take their lives.
Their family members begged them not to take extreme measures. Nonetheless, they proceeded with their choice.
A few family members and companions of the couple came to Palem town and discovered their scorched bodies in a field and educated the police about the situation.
Police said they have filed a case and took up additional investigations
