Heavy inflows in Musi cause closure of the Moosarambagh bridge

As a result of the heavy flow of rainwater in the Musi river, the traffic police closed the Moosarambagh bridge.

In an attempt to prevent traffic from entering the bridge, the traffic police placed barricades and issued an advisory urging people to seek alternative routes through Golnaka or Chaderghat.

A heavy inundation forced the traffic police to close the new Jiyaguda road that runs alongside the Musi River near Puranapul.

Around 1,500 residents were evacuated from their houses near the Musi River basin and from prone to inundation localities after water from Osman Sagar and Himayat Sagar was drained into the Musi River.

As a result, they were moved into nearby shelter homes, where the GHMC arranged for their food and other necessities.

Mayor G Vijaya Laxmi took to Twitter on Wednesday to announce that the GHMC coordinated with the Department of Revenue and the Department of Health to move the people.

Evacuated 1500 residents residing near the musi downstream flowing areas & shifted them to shelter homes due to increased flow of flood water. All necessary arrangements have made at the shelter homes for the citizens in coordination with @CPHydCity, the revenue department. @KTRTRS, the Mayor tweeted.

Rains clogged Charminar, Saidabad, Amberpet, and Himayat Nagar as well, while a wide range of other locations received rainfall ranging from four to eight centimeters.

As a result of heavy rains overnight between Monday and Tuesday, the city was inundated, drains overflowed, and a number of other issues were exacerbated. As a result of the intense rain, Cherlapally and Hayatnagar received over 10 cm of rainfall in such a short period of time, the highest rainfall so far in the season.
