Heavy rain and thundershowers are expected in Telangana

The southwest monsoon finally arrived in the State on Monday, after about four days of delay, providing relief from a summer that pushed people’s heat tolerances to their limits.

It rained the most in Chintalamanepally Mandal in Kumuram Bheem Asifabad on Tuesday, receiving 56 mm of rain between 8.30 am and 5 pm, while in Kapra in Hyderabad, 55 mm of rain lowered the mercury to 36.6 degrees Celsius.

As the weather cool downs in some more parts of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, light to heavy rain and thundershowers are forecast throughout Telangana for the next few days.

This confirms the arrival of monsoon in the city and other parts of the state, according to the MeT Department. The southwest monsoon was expected to arrive in the State between June 5 and June 10.

Almost all districts in the State are expected to see rain until Friday. A bulletin reported that heavy rain is expected to occur today at isolated places in Hyderabad, Ranga Reddy, Jagtial, Karimnagar, Rajanna Sircilla, Peddapalli, Mahabubabad, Jangaon, Siddipet, Yadadri Bhongir, Malkajgiri, Medchal, Mahabubnagar, Nagarkurnool, Wanaparthy, Narayanpet, and Jogulamba Gadwal districts.

In the twin cities, there is a general forecast of cloudy skies with occasional rain and thunderstorms. The daytime temperature is expected to be 33 degrees Celsius, and the nighttime temperature will be around 24 degrees Celsius. The temperature on Tuesday was 36.6 degrees Celsius and 23.4 degrees Celsius.

As per Telangana State Developing Planning Society (TSDPS)’s daily weather report, the highest maximum temperature of 41.5 degrees C occurred at Madhira (Khammam) and the lowest minimum temperature of 19 degrees C occurred at Shantapur (Mancherial).

Till Friday, maximum temperatures were expected to range from 34 degrees Celsius to 36 degrees Celsius in the city, while minimum temperatures are likely to range from 22 degrees Celsius to 24 degrees Celsius.
