Help disabled people, Harish tells Salaried

Hyderabad: Finance Minister T Harish Rao today said the need for providing representation to disabled persons in the legislative bodies.

Participating in a program in a college on the Raj Bhavan road organized by PURE here, Harish Rao distributed tricycles, artificial limbs, laptops and other aids to the disabled persons. On the occasion, Harish Rao said the State government was doing its best State or welfare of the disabled persons.  He demanded that the State government hiked pensions for disabled to Rs 3016 from Rs 300 earlier he claimed. He called upon persons who earn a better income should avoid being selfish and spend some money on the disabled persons in the State. He said the State government alone cannot do everything. “It is time for corporate companies, businessmen and industrialists to spend money for disabled persons, they added.

The Telangana government was implementing welfare schemes for disabled persons in the State with a 40 percent disability. While the other States were doing so only for 70 percent disability, Harish said the people who belittle disabled persons are really handicapped.
