High Court Pulls Up Advocate General on Krishna Power Row

Telangana High Court today expressed displeasure at the Advocate General, Prasad for seeking a particular bench to hear a case on the water and Krishna basin power generation issue.

Justice Ramchandra Rao pulled up AG in this regard, while the chief justice directed them to deal with the case of water disputes and power generation.

In a case heard against the government for issuing a GO 34 in favor of power generation by a few farmers from Krishna district Andhra Pradesh.  They appealed in a lunch motion petition in the court to stall the orders and stop power generation in the Krishna basin.

On this, the AG Prasad urged for a constitution bench of the CJ. Taking CJ’s directions we conduct the hearing and AG should withdraw its petition if he has no trust, Justice Ramchandra Rao said.

He said that it is unfortunate to make such appeals and the cases will come for hearing through a roaster method by the CJ. The court will not have any personal interest in the cases he said.

As the justice got furious for such demand against norms Prasad agreed to withdraw his interim petition on the issue.

Chief Justice Hima Kohli has expressed concern at the advocates of the two states including Venkata Ramana who argued for AP farmers.  They are creating confusion and the court takes s cal to hear the cases on water disputes, she said.
