Honda 2-Wheelers India has officially launched the much-anticipated electric version of its best-selling scooter, the Activa, on Wednesday. Dubbed as the Honda Activa EV, this electric scooter is packed with advanced features, aiming to revolutionize the EV market in India. Bookings for the Activa EV will begin on January 1, 2025, with deliveries slated to commence from February 1, 2025, initially in cities like Delhi, Mumbai, and Bengaluru.
The Honda Activa EV will be available in two variants—Standard and RoadSync Duo. The Standard variant weighs 118 kg, while the RoadSync Duo weighs 119 kg, offering enhanced connectivity features. The Standard variant comes with a 5-inch TFT display, featuring limited Bluetooth connectivity, while the RoadSync Duo boasts a 7-inch dashboard that supports turn-by-turn navigation and notification alerts.
The highlight of the Activa EV is its dual swappable battery system. Equipped with 1.5 kWh dual batteries, the scooter provides a range of 102 km on a single charge. These batteries can be easily swapped at Honda’s Power Pack Exchanger stations. Currently, Bengaluru has 83 battery-swapping stations, with plans to increase the number to 250 by 2026, ensuring a station is available every 5 km. Similar infrastructure will be expanded to Delhi and Mumbai.

Additionally, the Activa EV will also be offered in a model without a battery, allowing customers to rent batteries under a Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) model. This innovative feature makes the scooter more accessible and affordable.
The Activa EV delivers 6kW of power and 22 Nm of torque, reaching a top speed of 80 km/h. It can accelerate from 0 to 60 km/h in just 7.3 seconds. The scooter offers three riding modes—Standard, Sport, and Econ—along with a Reverse Mode for parking ease. The chassis design ensures a ground clearance of 171 mm, suitable for Indian roads. It features 12-inch wheels, front disc brakes, and rear drum brakes for better safety.
The RoadSync Duo variant introduces the H-Smart Key, offering features like Smart Find, Smart Safe, Smart Unlock, and Smart Start. These modern conveniences aim to enhance the overall user experience.
While inspired by the European model CUV e, the Activa EV incorporates several India-specific upgrades. Its body design is reminiscent of the petrol-powered Activa, with thoughtful additions like a USB charging port in the front storage compartment. However, the swappable battery system reduces boot space slightly.
Honda also revealed the QC1 electric scooter designed for short commutes like school drops or metro connectivity. Featuring a fixed 1.5 kWh battery, it offers a compact design and a larger boot space. This model will be launched later in 2025.
By 2030, Honda plans to introduce 30 electric two-wheeler models globally, showcasing its commitment to sustainable transportation.
The Activa EV will be available in five colors, including two shades of blue, white, grey, and black. While the price has not been disclosed, it is expected to compete with rivals like TVS iQube and Ather Rizta.
With advanced features, swappable batteries, and a focus on Indian-specific needs, the Honda Activa EV aims to set a new benchmark in the country’s electric mobility segment.
