Hyderabad: 3 arrested for prostitution after police raids spa

The Cyberabad Special Operations Team and the Madhapur police conducted a raid at a salon and spa and arrested three individuals on charges of organising prostitution. A total of two women were rescued from the flesh trade.

Among those arrested were K.Suresh (30) from Kukatpally, Vikas (28) from Madhapur, and a woman (30) from Madhapur.

During the last six months, the three were operating a flesh trade in a residential neighbourhood under the disguise of a salon and spa. The suspects were turned over to Madhapur police for further action, while the women were taken to rescue homes to undergo rehabilitation.

Similarly, in March of this year, Police in Banjara Hills raided a spa on a Tuesday night and rescued eight women. In addition, two customers and two managers were arrested.

In response to information, the Banjara Hills police raided the Banjara Hills Road No.12 spa and found that the management was forcing women working as masseuses into prostitution.

“The management enticed customers with phone calls and WhatsApp messages. Additionally, they forced women into prostitution and collected between Rs.3,000 and Rs.5,000 from customers,” Banjara Hills Inspector Shiva Chandra said, adding that efforts were underway to arrest Mahesh, the owner of the spa.

A crackdown has been launched by the Hyderabad City Police against massage parlours and spas where prostitution is organized on a large scale. Recent police raids in Bowenpally, Narayanguda, Banjara Hills and other areas in the city resulted in the rescue of women reportedly trapped in prostitution.

Rachakonda police officials have reported that sex traffickers use dating apps and social media to lure customers. Most of them use popular dating apps.

Furthermore, law enforcement authorities have a difficult time tracking down offenders due to their anonymous profiles.
