In keeping with its tradition of promoting innovation and simplifying life, Hyderabad has the highest adoption of cashless payments for a variety of mobility services among other mega cities in the country.
Hyderabad outperforms Bengaluru and Mumbai in terms of adoption of digital tools such as smartphone apps for passenger mobility, apps to streamline parking or charging electric vehicles, fintech solutions for cashless payments, and social media platforms for networking and purchasing services, among other things.
According to the Ola Mobility Institute (OMI) Foundation’s recently released ‘Ease of Moving Index 2022’ report, there are three indicators, including measuring cashless payments for mobility services, the composite number of users using three or more smartphone applications for specific mobility services, and the percentage of users using three or more applications for delivery of goods.
Most cities rank low in this category, highlighting the need to incentivize and promote innovation. The report revealed that Hyderabad leads the future of mobility among ‘Mega Cities’ since it has the highest adoption of cashless payments for various mobility services.
The Ease of Moving Index considers 40 indicators organized into nine mobility parameters. The Index also allows cities to benchmark against one another and map opportunities to improve specific aspects of city mobility. The study’s findings aim to improve city mobility governance and strengthen public transportation systems.

In terms of footpath width and maintenance, Hyderabad and Mumbai outperform the rest of the country. Hyderabad is also among the best in terms of providing foot over bridges or subways at major junctions.
The Ease of Moving Index 2022 also noted that many people in Surat and Hyderabad were pleased with bicycle and motor vehicle parking facilities at all major transit hubs.
