Hyderabad: Chandrayangutta extension flyover inaugurated to public

Home Minister Mohd Mahmood Ali inaugurated the extension flyover at Chandrayangutta on Saturday.

The event was attended by Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi, Chandrayangutta MLA Akbaruddin Owaisi, Deputy Mayor Mothe Srilatha Shoban Reddy, and others.

The existing Chandrayangutta flyover was 400 meters long; with the addition of 674 meters, it is now 1.07 kilometers long. It is a four-lane bi-directional flyover with a width of 16.6 meters.

A series of benefits are offered to commuters via Chandrayangutta by the extended flyover built by Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation under the Strategic Road Development Plan.

Among these is the smooth flow of traffic at Kandikal Junction and better commuting to the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport, Shamshabad, with the flyover.

With its four lanes on both sides and a length of 674 meters, it allows vehicles to pass directly over the flyover without stopping at the Kandikal Gate and Barkas junctions.

The Chandrayangutta flyover will make travel from Shamshabad International Airport to Nalgonda and Warangal via LB Nagar more convenient. The flyover expansion was undertaken at a cost of Rs. 45 crores to alleviate traffic congestion in Chandrayangutta.

The flyover has been extended to avoid traffic congestion at the existing flyover’s approach end. The flyover was built to make it easier to get to LB Nagar via Oyc junction and from LB Nagar to Shamshabad.

The AIMIMI floor leader shared the news on Twitter: “Inaugurated Chandrayangutta Flyover,” the tweet read.

Originally, the inauguration date was set for August 23. However, massive protests erupted in Hyderabad in response to BJP MLA Raja Singh’s derogatory remarks about Prophet Muhammad. Protests erupted in the city against Singh after he posted a highly inflammatory YouTube video.

Protests in Dabeerpura, Humayun Nagar, Charminar Chandrayangutta, and other parts of the city were led by AIMIM and Hyderabad Youth Courage (HYC).
