Hyderabad: CM KCR scheduled to attend closing ceremony of I-Day celebrations

The Diamond Jubilee of Indian independence celebrations concludes on Monday at LB Stadium after a fortnight-long celebration. The closing ceremony will be attended by Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao,

During the three-hour event, numerous national and international artists will perform scintillating performances in addition to felicitating the athletes and other eminent persons who have brought laurels to the country.

There will be a musical concert by Shankar Mahadevan, a drum performance by Sivamani, a dance performance by the Padmaja Reddy team, a Qawwali by the Warsi brothers, and performances by local artists. A laser show and fireworks will conclude the event.

It is expected that around 30,000 people will attend the closing ceremony, including Ministers, Parliament members, MLAs, MLCs, Corporation chairpersons, Municipal Corporations Mayors, municipal chairpersons, DCCB chairpersons, and other representatives. Transport for the elected representatives was arranged by the district collectors.

On August 8, India’s diamond jubilee celebrations kicked off with mass singing of the national anthem, student competitions, fruit distributions, and sapling plantings across the state.

On August 16, the entire State came to a halt as the Chief Minister led mass singing of the national anthem at Abids junction.

On August 15, the State government procured and distributed national flags from Telangana weavers, which were hoisted on every household to commemorate Independence Day.

The screening of the film ‘Gandhi’ for approximately 23 lakh students in order to spread Mahatma Gandhi’s message to future generations piqued the interest of many other states, who are now following suit.

TRS MP and chairman of the Independence diamond Jubilee celebrations committee K Keshavara Rao stated that the Independence Diamond Jubilee celebrations have received a tremendous response from all corners of the state. The closing ceremony will be held in grand style on August 22 at LB stadium, he added.
