On Wednesday, four members of a family from Hyderabad, including two children, were killed when the car in which they were traveling overturned in Mukpal village in Nizamabad district.
At approximately 6.30 am, the accident occurred in Kothapalli village when the family from Tolichowki, Hyderabad, was traveling to Maharashtra. According to police, the driver lost control of the wheel and rammed the median due to overspeeding.
Four members of the family died on the spot, and three others, all children, were taken to a nearby hospital.
The man, his wife, and children left Hyderabad after midnight in their Maruti Swift, according to Mupkal sub-inspector Prabhakar Reddy.
Overspeeding is suspected to have caused the accident. As the man was driving for long hours, they asked him to take a break. He may have lost control of the car because he was sleepy. When the car hit the median, it rolled over and hit the railings on the opposite side. Two children, three to four months old, died on the spot, Reddy said
The police are still collecting details of the victims and await other family members to reach the hospital. The three others who suffered injuries are stable now, Reddy said.
