Bodhan Ex-MLA’s Son Flees After Car Crash

The son of former Bodhan MLA Shakeel Amir, allegedly smashed his BMW into a police barricade outside Praja Bhavan late Sunday night. The incident happened about 3 a.m., when the MLA’s son’s vehicle collided with a traffic barricade.

Police officers on the scene apprehended the driver, Abdul Asif (27), who was accompanied by three female passengers. However, Asif managed to elude police custody after being taken to the police station.

Abdul Asif has been charged with violating Sections 184 of the Motor Vehicles Act, 279 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), and Section 3 of the Prevention of Damage to Public Property Act (PDPPA). The police are currently looking for Asif in order to bring him to justice.

Following rumors that the MLA’s son had eluded police, senior officials launched an investigation. The case was handed over to ACP Y Venkateshwar Rao of the SR Nagar division after the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) for the west zone visited the police station to investigate.

The occurrence raises worries about the accused’s alleged special treatment, prompting authorities to conduct a comprehensive investigation and arrest the culprit in order to protect the rule of law.
