Hyderabad: GHMC to set up construction & demolition processing unit

Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) is planning to set up Construction and Demolition (C&D) waste processing plants. The residents of Hyderabad are facing problems due to the illegal dumping of building waste by the builders. The dumping is also causing environmental pollution.

The corporation already has two plants at Jeedimetla and Fatullaguda. The two plants are processing 500 metric tonnes of waste. The corporation is now planning to call tenders for setting up the plants in Secunderabad and Charminar circles. It said that the plant should be set up on five acres of land and added that it should be 10 km away from the city.
