GHMC urges eco-friendly Ganesh idols for Vinayaka Chaturthi

In an appeal to the city’s residents, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) asked them to install eco-friendly clay Ganesh idols during Vinayaka Chaturthi.

GHMC South (Charminar) zone officers raised awareness among devotees at Sri Bhagyalakshmi Temple at historic Charminar about the installation of clay Ganesh idols.

Near Charminar, officers installed a clay Ganesh idol along with a hoarding highlighting the benefits of clay idols. They highlighted the benefits of clay idols during an awareness campaign, saying they would not adversely affect the environment, in contrast to idols made of plaster of Paris (PoP).

In order to educate the people about clay Ganesh idols, the GHMC has started a circle-wise awareness program.
