Hyderabad: Govt approves Rs 2,679 cr for 3 super-speciality hospitals

A total of Rs 2,679 crores has been approved by the Telangana government for the construction of three super-speciality hospitals in and around Hyderabad.

For the Telangana Institute of Medical Sciences (TIMS) in LB Nagar, Sanathnagar, and Alwal, approximately Rs 880 crore to Rs 900 crore was sanctioned. This was announced in a government order on Thursday.

The fourth TIMS has begun operation in Gachibowli. There will be two clusters at each of the three hospitals. Construction bids would be sought through tenders. Because hospitals will be large, only major construction companies are expected to participate in the bidding process.

The bids will be reviewed by a technical committee before being forwarded to the commission for final approval. A construction timeline of 14-18 months is anticipated.

A total of 1,000 beds are proposed in each hospital. Earlier, it was announced that all speciality and super-speciality services would be offered in the hospitals and that one specialization would be focused on each facility. Each of the four health facilities would operate independently.

According to current plans, the program will offer speciality and super-speciality courses. Post-graduate students who have learned the basics of medicine would take care of patients and pursue academic pursuits.

With four TIMS, existing tertiary care hospitals in congested areas of Hyderabad, such as Gandhi Hospital and Osmania General Hospital, would see fewer patients.

Since these institutes are scattered around the city, patients from all districts should have no problem finding one on the city outskirts rather than travelling into the core of Hyderabad.

TIMS in Alwal provides services to patients from Siddipet, Adilabad, and Sangareddy, while those from Khammam, Nalgonda, and Suryapet can go to LB Nagar for services. Those from nearby districts would also benefit from the hospital at Sanathnagar.
