Hyderabad is now dealing with a rise in hospital admissions connected to numerous epidemics, with a huge inflow of people seeking care at the outpatient departments of Gandhi Hospital, Osmania Hospital, and Fever Hospital.
These people have signs of infections such as dengue fever, malaria, and typhoid. While the number of patients was relatively modest just a few days ago, recent trends show a significant increase in instances.
Gandhi Hospital has recorded an increase in outpatient visits, with roughly 1700 patients. Osmania Hospital has also seen a significant increase, with around 2000 individuals seeking medical care. Similarly, Fever Hospital, which earlier served 300 patients, now serves over 800.
Children and the elderly are particularly susceptible among those afflicted. Given the present rainy season, experts highly advise residents to keep their surroundings clean in order to prevent the spread of these infections. The number of epidemic-related cases often increases from November onwards, with the drop in temperatures boosting the likelihood of dengue virus transmission. Furthermore, airborne lung infections continue to be a problem, causing healthcare providers to emphasize the need of using masks.
Over the last two months, Dr. Raja Rao, Superintendent of Gandhi Hospital, has seen a considerable rise in patients presenting symptoms compatible with dengue. Fortunately, no fatalities have been recorded. Individuals suffering symptoms such as fever, severe headache, or back discomfort should seek immediate medical assistance, according to Dr. Rao.
He also emphasizes the significance of measuring platelet counts, especially in situations with probable dengue illness. The city’s healthcare system is working hard to offer care and stop the spread of these illnesses.
