Telangana school’s Introduces No Bag Day: Promoting Engaging Learning and Career Exploration

The School Education department in Telangana has established the “No Bag Day” project in an effort to make learning more engaging and fun for kids while decreasing academic pressure and bag weight. This project makes the fourth Saturday of each month a bag-free day at all schools.

A brochure explaining the activities for the bagless days has been issued by the State Council of Education Research and Training (SCERT), a subsidiary of the School Education administration. The primary part will include three sessions: show time, fun station, and creative circle, with students from Class I to II. Through activities such as conversing about family, impersonating family members, and sketching sketches of family members, these programmes aim to build communication skills and creativity.

Activity-based learning around the theme of livelihood has been prepared for pupils in Class III through V. They will be encouraged to speak and act about their favourite occupation, as well as sketch the tools associated with it.

Secondary level students (Class VI to X) will go on field trips to post offices, construction sites and ration shops. They will also undertake a family budget survey, organise model assemblies and elections, and learn about financial transactions. There are 28 activity-based learning topics in total for secondary pupils. The programme aims to bridge the gap between academic knowledge and practical application by exposing students to varied professional skills and assisting them in making informed career decisions.

Students will have the opportunity to question the postmaster, postman, and householders during their visit to a post office to obtain insight into their profession and the services provided. These trips give students with hands-on learning opportunities and allow them to explore various career paths.Secondary school pupils will also be introduced to the fundamentals of artificial intelligence and its applications, as well as job chances in this industry.

In Hyderabad, the No Bag Day project strives to improve the learning experience by adding hands-on and real-world activities, strengthening practical skills, and empowering students to make educated career choices.
