Hyderabad: Masjid-e-Khaja in Shamshabad demolished late at night

According to reports, the local municipality demolished a mosque at Shamshabad with the help of the police. Municipal officials and the RGIA (Cyberabad) police allegedly bulldozed Masjid-e-Khaja Mehmood here on Monday night.

In response to learning of the incident, MBT leader Amjedullah Khan visited the spot and alleged it had been done with a bulldozer. According to him, the local municipal officials demolished the Masjid-e-Khama at 3 in the morning. There is a masjid at Green Avenue colony in Shamshabad.

The mosque at Shamshabad was built three years ago, and five prayers are held there every day. The colony was built on 15 acres, and most of the residents are Muslim.  Amjedullah Khan said that Taher Ali and Tayeb Ali of Prestige Infra marked two plots of 250 square yards of land for the mosque in 2016.

Vishal Singh, a local resident in Shamshabad, allegedly approached the court to contest the mosque’s construction, according to Khan. According to the MBT leader, a court case is pending over its legality. Further, he said that locals filed an illegal construction complaint against Vishal Singh.

According to Khan, the TRS government is following in the footsteps of the BJP government in Uttar Pradesh. There have been numerous mosques and graveyards demolished in Telangana since the TRS party came to power, he said. As a result of the demolition of the mosque, police presence at the site was reportedly increased in Shamshabad.
