Hyderabad:A powerful explosion at a construction site belonging to Phoenix Spaces Private Ltd rocked the Puppalaguda village in Narsingi on Friday evening. Two construction workers were severely injured in the blast and a tipper truck parked at the site was completely damaged.
The injured persons have been admitted to a private hospital and their condition is said to be out of danger, said Madhapur DCP A Venkateswara Rao. “We are trying to identify the builders and the persons responsible for the incident,” he said.
According to the police, the lorry was carrying gelatin sticks to be used for rock blasting at the site that was covered with blue metal sheets. The blast, which could be heard in some parts of Jubilee Hills as well, left only mangled parts of the vehicle at the site. The massive sound triggered panic among residents in the vicinity with metal pieces of the lorry falling on their residences. The panic-struck residents ran out of their houses hearing the explosion.
News scrolls by vernacular news channels claiming that four persons were killed in the incident led to more panic. However, with police officials, who have cordoned off the blast site, confirming that the blast was not a terror act, the public heaved a sigh of relief.
The area is completely cordoned off and additional forces from law & order and armed forces were also deputed at the site.
