BJP-led Centre copying our welfare plans: T Harish Rao

Finance minister T Harish Rao mocked the BJP government’s ‘double-engine sarkar’ slogan, saying progress has come to a halt in BJP-ruled Karnataka and wondered whether the saffron party meant Karnataka as a perfect example of a double-engine government. He stated that the BJP government at the Centre was imitating all of Telangana’s welfare schemes.

“The Centre is not cooperating with the Telangana government and did not give 45,000 crore due to the state. The BJP government gives only awards and nothing else,” he said.

Addressing Society for Elimination of Rural Poverty (SERP) employees on Saturday Harish Rao said payscale to SERP employees got delayed due to Covid-19 pandemic. The minister stated that when 4,000 employees were dismissed when Andhra Pradesh was united, BRS president K Chandrasekhar Rao fought to ensure that they were rehired and given a 30% fitment after the BRS came to power in 2014.

Additionally, Harish Rao sent a postcard to the Centre on linking agriculture sector to MGNREGS. He said in the letter that the Centre had cut 30,000 crore cut to MGNREGS and was diluting the employment guarantee scheme.
