Amid an unfortunate incident in the city, a teenager tried to kill herself by immolation and later died while getting treated at Osmania hospital.
The minor girl was a 7th grade student of a government school in Keesara. She used to live with her parents in Miyapur’s Haneef Colony.
The incident that took place on Tuesday seems to be an extreme step taken after her parents scolded her for spending too much time on the mobile phone post her online classes. The minor was scolded by her father for staying glued to the phone, the police suspects.
After she tried to self-immolate, the teenager was rushed to the hospital for getting treatment. However, she died of her injuries on Friday. A case has been registered and the police is investigating it.
In a separate incident that occurred in June this year in Hyderabad, a minor boy died by suicide after hanging himself. According to reports, the boy was upset over his parents taking his phone away as he was constantly using it to play games.
As per his parents, the 12 year old boy named Manikanta, who was a grade 8 student, would use the mobile phone to attend his online classes. However, after some time they realized that their son was bunking classes to play online games on the phone. Angry over his actions, his parents took the phone away, much to the disappointment of the boy who went ahead to kill himself.
When nobody was home one day, the boy allegedly hanged himself to death from a ceiling.
The incident that took place within the Kukatpally police station limits quickly gained attention by word of mouth. The area was shocked by the boy’s move as were the grief-struck parents.
Soon, the Kukatpally police station was informed of the matter and a team reached the spot to investigate the matter. Manikanta’s body was shifted to the Gandhi hospital in Secunderabad for the autopsy to know the cause of death.
The cops said that a case has been filed in the matter and they are probing all details.
