Hyderabad: People share stunning photos and videos of partial solar eclipse

On Tuesday, in the midst of one of the most awe-inspiring partial solar eclipses or ‘Surya Grahan’, residents of Hyderabad shared mesmerizing images and videos on social media platforms.

Despite the clear sky, they were only able to watch the event for a short period of time since it began at 4:59 pm and ended at 5:48 pm.

Due to some beliefs associated with the solar eclipse, most city streets appeared deserted during the eclipse. The doors of temples, restaurants and other outlets were closed for a few hours. Children and parents stayed at home after several schools were given half-day off.

In spite of experts’ warnings not to watch yesterday’s partial solar eclipse with the naked eye or with a cell phone, some residents of Hyderabad watched it using their mobile phones.

The celestial event was shared on social media by some netizens. The following are some of them.

Since there is usually a two-week gap between the solar eclipse and the lunar eclipse, the city will witness a partial lunar eclipse on November 8.

Solar eclipses and lunar eclipses are celestial events caused by the rotation of the Earth around the Sun and the Moon around the Earth.

As a result of rotation, the Sun, Moon, and Earth eventually form a linear configuration. Due to this, either the Sun or the Moon becomes visible from Earth.

In a solar eclipse, the Sun becomes invisible because its rays do not reach Earth because they are blocked by the Moon, whereas in a lunar eclipse, the Sun’s rays do not reach the Moon because they are blocked by the Earth, rendering it invisible.

While precautions are required during a solar eclipse, none are required during a lunar eclipse. The lunar eclipse can be seen with the naked eye.
