Hyderabad: Police arrest person carrying fake currency worth over Rs 3 lakhs

On Tuesday, the Gopalapuram Police apprehended a person carrying fake currency notes worth Rs 3.16 lakhs.

The man who was arrested has been identified as Kasthuri Ramesh Babu. He was arrested in Indranagar colony, Kalimandir, Bandlaguda Jagir in Hyderabad. He was allegedly carrying fake currency notes. When the police enquired about him, he confessed his guilt.

Over three lakhs worth of fake currency was seized from the accused by the police. There were 2500 fake notes of Rs 100 denominations, 45 half-printed fake notes of Rs 100 denominations, and 92 half-printed fake notes of Rs 500 denominations.

Also seized by the police was one Lenovo laptop, two black and white color printers, one screen printing machine, one paper cutting machine, one mobile phone, and one four-wheeler.

This case was reported to the police on September 19. Gopi Rama Swamy claimed that one person purchased fruits from him and was given a fake note for Rs 200 in return. When he realized this, he and his friend chased him and took him to the police.

An investigation has been initiated at the Gopalapuram Police Station under section 489 (B) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

In another case, an individual named Kaki Yadagiri was apprehended by the Chilkalguda Police on Tuesday after receiving credible information. Also recovered from him was the ambulance vehicle.

The case was based on a complaint filed on Monday by a Karimnagar Town resident named Lingampally Srinivas. He stated that he had come to Hyderabad Gandhi Hospital with a patient who had consumed pesticide from the Karimnagar Government.

He had parked his car outside and left his keys inside. He couldn’t find his vehicle when he returned after 10 minutes. According to the complainant, the vehicle was worth Rs 3,70,000.
