Two suspects from Vanasthalipuram, Uma (36), a homemaker, and Shiva Kumar (40), an auto-rickshaw driver, allegedly lured people by claiming they had contacts with local representatives and officials who could authorize 2 BHK houses.

With the help of Shiva Kumar, Uma collected sums ranging from Rs.20,000 to Rs 50,000 from each person and collected Rs 12 lakh from three people who they promised to set up stalls under government schemes but later absconded.

Vanasthalipuram police arrested the suspects after receiving a complaint from a victim from the Kamareddy district.

Rachakonda police arrest UP man for online real estate fraud

The Rachakonda Cybercrime police arrested a fraudster from Uttar Pradesh on Saturday on charges of defrauding people by selling land at low prices. According to officials, 15 cases have been filed against him across the country since 2016, with 12 of them being in Rachakonda alone.

S Nagaraju (38), a science postgraduate from Nelakondapally in Khammam district, pretended to be the actual owner of lands advertised in classified ads and online commerce or real estate sites.

Police say that he obtained photocopies of land documents from the actual owners while pretending to be a prospective buyer and then sent them to the victims.  He duped people into thinking he was selling his land at a low price because he was in desperate need of money, and he made them transfer money in advance, adding that he spent the money gambling in Goa, Gangtok, and Nepal.

Based on a complaint from a victim in April, the Cybercrime police opened an investigation and apprehended him in Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh, with the assistance of local police.
