Hyderabad police to initiate joint investigation with Goa police in drug case

A drug peddler from Anjuna in Goa was arrested in August by Hyderabad police, posing questions as to where their jurisdiction ends. As a result, the city police is seeking a joint investigation with its counterparts in Goa.

CV Anand, Hyderabad’s police commissioner, has urged Goa’s Director General of Police Jaspal Singh to allow the city police to visit the state to initiate the joint investigation

It is reported that a team of city police will visit Goa on September 19 and 20. It is expected that the two forces will work together to bring this case to a logical conclusion, according to the latest reports.

During the next few weeks, the Goa police are expected to send a team to Hyderabad. Pritesh Borkar, a drug peddler, was arrested by the Hyderabad Narcotics Enforcement Wing and Osmania University police on August 1. As a result of Borkar’s family filing a missing complaint, the issue was brought to light.

16 days after Borkar was taken into custody, the Hyderabad police issued a notification, a violation of interstate arrest rules. In addition to Borkar, the Hyderabad police released the names of eight others, including Curlies Shack owner Edwin Nune. Additionally, Nunes is wanted on drug charges.

CV Anand alleged earlier in a press conference that the Goa police weren’t cooperating. In response, Singh refuted the Commissioner’s claim, saying that his department had coordinated with the Hyderabad police and shared information regarding Nunes’ arrest.

“Whenever we communicate with them (Goa police), we get negative results. If we attempt to nab someone (accused persons from Goa), we don’t get them. There is nothing to hide, I am stating openly that Goa Police does not cooperate,” CV Anand had said on September 3.

Despite this, General Jaspal Singh claimed that it had not received any documentation seeking assistance from its counterparts in Hyderabad.
