Hyderabad Reservoirs Open Gates Amid Rising Water Levels: Safety Measures in Place

Tourists have gathered to witness the magnificent sight of water being dumped into the Musi River as the water levels in Hyderabad’s Osman Sagar and Himayat Sagar reservoirs continue to climb. The authorities have taken steps to curb the rising water levels by opening six Himayat Sagar gates to 2 feet. As a result, officials from the irrigation department and the police have reinforced security around both reservoirs to safeguard public safety.

Himayat Sagar has been receiving water at a rate of 1,000 cusecs per second, resulting in a discharge of 1,340 cusecs into the Musi River. Himayat Sagar’s water level has reached 1762 feet, close to its total capacity of 1763.5 feet, necessitating continued water release.

The release of water from Himayat Sagar into the Musi River has resulted in a major rise in river flow, which is projected to last for the next two days. As a result, officials have issued warnings to inhabitants living in low-lying areas along the Musi River, asking them to relocate to safer areas and take required precautions.

Aside from Himayat Sagar, authorities are keeping a careful eye on Hussain Sagar in order to manage the flow of water and protect residents in low-lying areas from potential damage. During this era of increased water levels, officials stay vigilant to safeguard the safety and well-being of the people.

As the situation remains fluid, officials are on high alert and working tirelessly to protect residents and effectively manage reservoir water discharge. As the water in the Musi River and its adjacent communities continues to flow, public safety remains a primary issue.
