Hyderabad, restoration concepts for Mir Alam Mandi shortlisted

Deputy chief secretary for Urban Development Arvind Kumar convened a meeting with the owners of stalls in the Mir Alam Mandi market to finalize its design concepts.

Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi presided over the meeting; other attendees included Charminar MLA Mumtaz Ahmed Khan and several shop owners from the market.

Taking to Twitter, Kumar posted the following tweet: “In a meeting held today presided over by MP janaab @asadowaisi saab & @MumtazKhanMLA, with shop owners/lessees (led by Muzaffar Ali, Muralidhar Reddy & Ahmad saab) of #MirAlam Mandi, design concepts for mkt renovation got explained & a design was shortlisted unanimously @KTRTRS.”

Govt take up More restoration work and heritage walks in Hyderabad

As announced by Telangana’s special chief secretary for municipal administration and urban development, Arvind Kumar, restored works will be undertaken soon for Sardar Mahal, Mahboob Chowk, and Mir Alam Mandi.

As part of India’s World Heritage Day celebration, Kumar announced the restoration projects on Twitter following a heritage walk organized by the Telangana State Tourism Development Corporation (TSTDC) and Deccan Heritage Academy. There will be heritage walks on Sundays every week, he added.

A proposal states that the historic Mahboob Chowk market will be redeveloped by Quli Qutub Shah Urban Development Authority (QQSUDA) into dedicated meat and poultry shops.

In addition to relocating the Clock tower garden, new street lighting, benches, garden fencing, landscaping, and public restrooms will also be installed.

A design for renovating Mir Alam Chowk was also shortlisted in a meeting on Saturday between the MAUD secretary and MP Asaduddin Owaisi, Charminar MLA Mumtaz Khan, as well as stallholders from the area.

In addition to the Hyderabad Heritage walk, the Hyderabad World Heritage Day 2022 showcased areas such as Mahboob Chowk (Murgi Chowk), Iqbal-ud-Doula Devdi, and Khilwat.
