KT Rama Rao, the Minister for Municipal Administration and Urban Development inaugurate some of the expansive infrastructure development works in Hyderabad worth Rs.495.75 crore and lay the foundations for others.
During his visit to Bahadurpura, the Minister inaugurated the six-lane bi-directional flyover and the Mir Alam tank musical fountain, which were constructed at a cost of Rs.108 crore and Rs.2.55 respectively along with the foundation stone that will be laid to restore Sardar Mahal, Mahbub Chowk, and Mir Alam Mandi.
A foundation stone also be laid for the Kalapathar Police Station, as well as an overhaul of the sewerage network near the Mir Alam sewerage plant and Karwan.
It was revealed in a GHMC press release that the Bahadurpura flyover was built as part of the Strategic Road Development Plan (SRDP) at a cost of Rs.108 crore, which included Rs.69 crore in construction costs. The remaining amount was spent on land acquisition and other works. The flyover required the acquisition of 45 properties and the relocation of power utilities.
As part of this project, the sewerage network in three places in the parliament segment of Hyderabad will be overhauled, estimated to be Rs. 297.30 crore in cost.
It is estimated that Rs.21.09 crore and Rs.30 crore will each be spent on the restoration of Mir Alam Mandi and the 121-year-old Sardar Mahal, respectively, in order to regain their former glory. The Murgi Chowk, popularly known as Mahbub Chowk Market, is another historically significant building that will be restored at a cost of Rs.36 crore.
