Hyderabad sees a sharp increase in chicken prices

There has been a sharp increase in the price of broiler chicken in Telangana. In retail chicken shops, 1 Kg of skinless chicken goes for Rs. 300 and chicken with skin is sold for Rs. 280 per kilo.

It is very expensive to buy boneless chicken. One interesting development is that country chickens are still sold for Rs 480 per kg and no changes have been made to that price.

The time of Summer is generally when broiler chicken prices drastically increase, but this year they are higher than usual. Feed costs have also risen and demand has been robust, causing chicken prices to increase.

The increase in poultry feed prices led to a rise in production costs, resulting in a general increase in prices throughout the state. During the summer, there are more costs related to air-conditioners, electricity consumption, labour costs, etc. and these factors increase the price of broiler chickens.

Prices of chicken are also rising due to the rising temperatures. In addition, it has been reported that the birds are dying on the farms due to the high temperatures. Farmers are also suffering losses because of it.

Ranga Reddy is said to be at the top of the list in the poultry industry followed by the erstwhile Nalgonda district. Nearly 400 poultry farms are located in the former erstwhile district. The poultry farms are reported to produce between 50 and 60 lakh broiler birds per batch in 45 days. The situation has radically changed since now.

About four crore broilers are produced each month on the State’s 10,000 broiler farms. They are supplied to the market in the State.

In Hyderabad, the major suppliers are Ibrahimpatnam, Kandukuar, Maheshwaram, Kothur, Shamshabad, and nearby districts like Sangareddy, Medak, Yadadri Bhuvangiri, and Vikarabad.
