Hyderabad Sees Over 22% Drop in Chicken Prices Amid Karthika Masam

In a striking trend during the previous 20 days, the price of chicken in Hyderabad has dropped by more than 22 percent. The drop, which has been attributed to a supply-demand imbalance, has affected a variety of chicken kinds, including those with skin, without skin, and boneless.

The present rates, as revealed by Syed Fayazuddin, the proprietor of Eagle Fisheries, indicate this considerable drop. On November 3, live chicken costs were Rs 104 per kilogram, but have now dropped to Rs 126. Similarly, prices for chicken with skin, without skin, and boneless have dropped, with prices now standing at Rs 185, Rs 211, and Rs 380 per kg, respectively.

The drop in rates can be attributed to the ongoing Karthika Masam celebrations, which run from October 29 to November 27, during which a large percentage of the populace abstains from eating non-vegetarian dishes. This trend has not only affected chicken costs, but also the pricing of other meats and fish, which are also suffering a fall in demand.

It is expected that chicken and beef prices in Hyderabad will stabilize after the Karthika month, as dietary trends return to their normal consumption patterns.
