Hyderabad: Teenager dies after eating biryani in a restaurant

It was reported that a teenager died after eating biryani at a restaurant in Lakdikapul a few hours after eating it. His father and sister, who were also unwell, were hospitalized. The incident occurred a week ago but was brought to light last night.

According to Sattaiah, the SHO of Saifabad police station, a sample of the biryani was sent to determine the cause of death.

The case of suspicious death has been booked, but based on the sample report, further action will be taken.

In explaining the case, he said that the family, which resides in Khairtabad, stopped at a restaurant in Lakdikapul and purchased biryani on their way back from Surypet. The family of four – a man, his wife, son, and daughter – ate dinner and went to bed after arriving home.

Their neighbor knocked on the door the next morning when nobody woke up until the afternoon. Upon hearing the knock, the woman awoke. It wasn’t long before her husband and daughter awoke as well.

Her son, however, did not respond. After being transported to a hospital, he was pronounced dead. Both the man and his daughter were not feeling well, so they were shifted to a hospital in Ameerpet.

Before going to bed that night, the family members claimed they ate only biryani purchased from the restaurant. They also claimed that food poisoning was to blame for the death.

Following the death of the boy, the family approached the Saifabad police and filed a complaint. After conducting a post-mortem examination, the police filed a case under Section 174 of the CrPC and handed back the boy’s body to his family.

As per reports, biryani samples were taken and sent to the Forensic Science Laboratory for analysis. As a result of the reports, appropriate action will be taken.
