Hyderabad: Tolichowki monsoon works progress rapidly

Monsoon works under the Strategic Nala Development Programme (SNDP) are underway at a brisk pace in Tolichowki and are expected to be completed before the monsoon arrives, ensuring that there is no flood-like situation this monsoon. Karwan MLA Kausar Mohiuddin inspected the SNDP works in the Tolichowki division and discussed the development of nalas in the constituency with the GHMC Superintendent engineer and SNDP officials.

Construction of a box type drain at Bal Reddy Nagar and Virasat Nagar in the Tolichowki division is part of the project. The officials inspected the works in Nadeem Colony, Tolichowki, Hakeempet, and the surrounding areas and directed that they be completed as soon as possible before the arrival of the monsoon.

Residents say they are still afraid of flooding because the area has experienced significant flooding in recent years. During the monsoon, the ground floor of many buildings is usually empty,” says MohdIshaq of Virasat Nagar.

MLA Kausar said that concerted efforts are being made to expedite the work, with corporators and GHMC officials regularly monitoring them to ensure a free flow of rainwater during the monsoon.

According to sources, only 14 of the 36 SNDP phase-I projects have been completed across GHMC limits. Later, Kausar Mohiuddin inaugurated a CC road worth Rs 40 lakh and a water supply line worth Rs 8 lakh in Satyanarayana Nagar Colony in Gudimalkapur division. MLA recently called on GHMC Commissioner Lokesh Kumar and Engineer in Chief Ziauddin to discuss pending works in Karwan constituency.

MLA previously stated that the GHMC had sanctioned Rs 20 crore for the construction of VDCC roads throughout Karwan. He requested that the GHMC begin work as soon as possible and finish it before the monsoon.

On the same day, the MLA met with HMWSSB MD Dana Kishore to discuss water pollution issues. Over Rs 5 crore in projects have been approved to address Karwan’s pollution problems. The project includes the reconstruction of sewerage lanes from Arbab hotel to Seven Tombs, MD lines road, Hakeempet road, and Pillar no 102 road.
