Hyderabad: Youth’s unruly behaviour at Milad-un-Nabi draws criticism

Thousands of people attended rallies held in Hyderabad as part of the Milad-un-Nabi celebrations. Many Muslims are irritated by youths’ unruly behavior, which included DJ music and dance performances.

Many young people were seen dancing to DJ songs during the celebrations near Charminar. Some of them can even be seen doing stunts.

The unruly behavior of the youngsters drew widespread criticism from various segments of society. Khusro Ahmed Khan (name changed), a Hyderabad resident who witnessed the young people’s behavior, described it as blasphemy.

Many netizens criticized the way Milad-un-Nabi was celebrated in Hyderabad on social media. Some of them called it ‘Bidah.’

Milad-un-Nabi Rally

Many small processions were held in Hyderabad neighborhoods such as Rajendranagar, Saroornagar, Yousufguda, Erragadda, Banjara Hills Zehra Nagar, First Lancer, Golconda, Santoshnagar, Malakpet, Musheerabad, Warisguda, and Bowenpally.

These rallies linked up with the main rally at Charminar, which was flagged by Telangana Home Minister Mohammed Mahmood Ali.

Mufti Mohammed Asif Bilal Quadri was quoted as saying that performing bike stunts on the occasion of Milad-un-Nabi is against Islamic teachings.

Snacks distribution

With the exception of a few young people who were seen performing stunts and dancing, most Muslims were seen following Islamic teachings and peacefully celebrating Milad-un-Nabi.

A few of them handed out chocolates, cookies, wafers, and snacks to children on the streets. Some of them were also seen handing out money to the poor.

Food camps for the public were set up in colonies and along major roads in Shalibanda, Charminar, Madina Building, Dabeerpura, Yakutpura, Falaknuma, Mir Alam Mandi, Nampally, Aghapura, Mehdipatnam, and Golconda, among other places.

A blood donation camp was held at the State Central Library in Afzalgunj to commemorate the occasion.

Milad-un-Nabi is the time of year when Muslims remember Prophet Muhammad and his teachings, his love for humanity and his mission, his committed adherence to truth, and the revolution he started as Islam.
