Hyderabadi Youth Lynching in Bidar: Parents appeal for Justice

Hyderabad: Parents of the Hyderabadi techie who was lynched to death on the suspicion of being a child lifterl in Bidar on Monday appealed to the Karnataka and Central Government to initiate stern action against the accused involved.

The grief at Azam’s house has turned to anger, as the deceased’s mother intervenes and says, “Yesterday, I didn’t want to speak to anyone because I was grieving, but today I’m seething with anger. I’m demanding justice and I want those who brutally killed my son to face the same fate as him”.

Mohammed Azam, a 32-year-old techie who worked with Accenture in Hyderabad, was brutally lynched to death on Friday by residents of Murki village in Karnataka’s Bidar district, who assumed that he was a child lifter.

The incident took place when Azam and his two friends, who hail from Hyderabad, were visiting their friend Mohammed Bashir in Mandikera village here.

During their visit to the village, they went to sit by a lake where they offered chocolates to some students. The parents and the locals objected to it, realizing they didn’t belong from there.

As the men were trying to leave, villagers gathered in groups blocking the road and started assaulting them. During the attack, Azam died on the spot.
