HYDRAA Demolishes Encroachments Near Ameenpur Lake Amid Protests from Plot Owners

In a significant operation, the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HYDRAA) took up the demolition of illegal encroachments on plots near Ameenpur Lake on Tuesday. The action followed numerous complaints from plot owners alleging encroachment by a prominent politician.

The issue centers around the Ameenpur Pedda Cheruvu area, where the politician reportedly developed the Padmavathi layout, encroaching on pre-existing plots, and subsequently sold them. Aggrieved plot owners have been fighting against the encroachment since 2006 but claimed they received no substantial support from officials over the years.

This is not the first time HYDRAA has stepped in to address the matter. A similar demolition drive was carried out three months ago. However, the encroacher allegedly rebuilt fencing around the disputed land, prompting HYDRAA to take action once again.

“Despite our repeated protests and complaints, the encroachment continued. We are relieved that HYDRAA has taken steps to address the issue, but we hope for a permanent resolution this time,” said one of the plot owners.

Ameenpur Lake, known for its ecological and historical significance, has been a point of contention due to unchecked encroachments and urbanization. Officials emphasized that the demolitions aim to protect the lake’s surroundings and uphold the rights of legitimate plot owners. Further action may be taken as HYDRAA intensifies its efforts to curb illegal constructions in sensitive areas.
