HYDRAA Directs Cleanup Operations in Musi River

Acting swiftly on the directives of Hyderabad Disaster Response and Assets Protection Agency (HYDRAA) Commissioner A.V. Ranganath, Rajapushpa Constructions has begun removing illegally dumped mud in the Musi River near Narsingi, close to Gandipet. The action comes two weeks after Commissioner Ranganath inspected the site following complaints of encroachment and illegal dumping.

Rajapushpa Constructions has cleared 40 feet deep and 30 feet high layers of mud from the riverbed, complying with the Commissioner’s instructions. The Musi River Development Authority has been directed to demarcate the boundaries of the river, while officials from the Irrigation, Revenue, and Municipal departments have been tasked with monitoring the cleanup process.

During a site visit on Thursday, Commissioner Ranganath reviewed the progress and commended the officials for their swift response. Additionally, Aditya Constructions has committed to removing similar illegal dumping in the area within 10 days, and Pooja Homes has initiated the clearing of sheds and debris near Neknampur Lake as per the Commissioner’s orders.

In Shamshabad Municipality, Ranganath inspected Gollavari Kunta, an 18-acre lake allegedly converted into layouts. Taking a firm stance, he directed Revenue and Irrigation officials to submit a detailed report on the encroachment immediately.

In another development, HYDRAA facilitated the recovery of a skating park spanning approximately 1,600 square yards in Saibaba Nagar Colony, Old Alwal. Residents expressed relief over the recovery and have requested a compound wall for the park. The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has sanctioned a budget of ₹10.5 lakh for the wall, with the tender already awarded.

These measures highlight HYDRAA’s proactive approach to protecting Hyderabad’s natural resources and public spaces while addressing citizens’ concerns over encroachment and environmental degradation.
