Illegal PDS rice trade gained strong hold in Rajendranagar

Incidents of illegal PDS rice transportation are keep on mounting in Rangareddy district especially in Rajendranagar area under Saroor Nagar circle while civil supplies officials are avoid to face the real time traders playing behind the curtain and just portraying as completely attentive and busy all the time chasing the vehicles.

The intensity of such incidents could be measured with the number of cases registered during the last two months wherein civil supplies officials were seen pulling over vehicles full of PDS rice one after another.

According official data secured from district civil supplies officials, nearly 23 cases were booked during September and October wherein a total 635.8 quintals of PDS rice was seized pulling over the vehicles at different locations.

According to officials, a total number of 18 (6-A) cases have been booked in the month of September that saw confiscation of 606.45 quintals of PDS rice from different areas under Rangereddy district. However, another 5 to 6 cases have been booked between October 1-18 and a total 29.35 quintals of PDS rice was seized by the authorities in the district.

Interestingly, the Rajendranagar area under Saroor Nagar circle alone witnessed 11 (6-A) cases during the last 20 days while 334.45 quintals of PDS rice were confiscated.

Assistant Civil Supply Officer Saroornagar Circle Balasaroja, recently informed that “A total number of 11 cases of infringement have been booked between September 15 to October 8 while 334.45 quintals of PDS rice has been seized worth Rs.4,67,600 beside booking cases during the same period.”
