IMD forecasts moderate rainfall until July 6 in Hyderabad

Residents of Hyderabad woke up on Saturday to cloudy skies, with officials from the India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicting light to moderate rainfall for the next four days. Until July 6, the weather service predicts a cloudy sky with one or two spells of rain or thundershowers.

The southwest monsoon has remained weak since the monsoon’s arrival over Hyderabad, resulting in a rain deficit. In June, the city received 84.6 mm of rain, compared to the normal seasonal rainfall of 109.2 mm.

The State Capital, on the other hand, is expected to see some rain in the coming days, with the weather service issuing a yellow alert. A Yellow alert is issued when heavy rain of 7.5 mm to 15 mm falls on a location.

Despite the cloudy sky, the humidity level in Hyderabad during the morning hours on Saturday was 84%, which was higher than normal.

IMD also stated that heavy rain is very likely to occur in isolated locations in the districts of Adilabad, Kumuram Bheem Asifabad, Mancherial, Karimnagar, Peddapalli, Jayashankar Bhupalpally, Mulugu, and Bhadradri Kothagudem.

Entire Country Covered in Southwest Monsoon

According to the India Meteorological Department, the southwest monsoon covered the entire country on Saturday, six days ahead of schedule (IMD).

“The southwest monsoon has moved further north into the Arabian Sea, Gujarat, and Rajasthan.” As a result, it covered the entire country on Saturday, rather than the usual date of July 8, according to IMD senior scientist R.K. Jenamani. According to IMD data, the SW monsoon has only covered the entire country exactly on July 8 once in the last 20 years, in 2011.

The earliest it covered the entire country was on June 16, 2013, while the most delayed was on July 24, 2006, when it covered the entire country on July 24. Following its arrival on the Kerala coast on May 27, three days ahead of schedule, the monsoon has made slow progress over the south peninsular areas and central India.
