Indian Corporate Sector Contributes To Ease Covid 19 and Medical Oxygen Supply Crisis Across The Nation: Reports

With the second wave of deadly Coronavirus sweeping across India, many corporate sector companies have come forward to help the nation during the emergency situation. Recently, Google CEO Sundar Pichai announced that they will be helping India with Rs 135 crores for urgent medical supplies.

Google Sends Help To India Amidst Coronavirus Emergency

As per the latest reports, Google on Monday announced that the donation includes grants from Google.org, Google philanthropic arm. The amount totals to Rs 20 crore.

Sanjay Gupta, Country Head and VP, India said the first aim is to provide cash assistance to families that have been hit the hardest because of the pandemic. The second will go to UNICEF to help them provide for urgent medical supplies like oxygen cylinders and testing equipment to India.

The amount being donated also includes the donations received from Google’s ongoing employee giving campaign. So far over 900 Googlers have collected Rs 3.7 crores for organizations that are supporting the high-risk and marginalized communities.

Talking to Twitter, Google and Alphabet CEO, Sundar Pichai said he is devastated to see the worsening Covid situation in India. He further confirmed that Google and Googlers are providing assistance of Rs 135 crores for medical supplies and other requirements.

Indian Corporate Sector Pools In To Help Nation During Covid 19 Crisis

Reports suggest that amidst the shortage of medical oxygen supply, JSW Steel is working towards speeding their production for liquid medical oxygen (LMO) to over 900 tonnes a day by April end. The firm confirmed that they are targeting to supply 20,000 tonnes of LMO from its plants in Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka.

During the last weekend, Gautam Adani, Chairman of the Adani Group took to Twitter and released a statement regarding the crisis. He said that the company is working towards securing oxygen supplies from across the world.

hipment of four ISO cryogenic tanks with 80 tonnes of liquid oxygen is on its way Saudi Arabia. Furthermore, another 5000 medical-grade oxygen cylinders are also on their way.

Meanwhile, ITC has also tied with Linde India to airlift 24 cryogenic ISO containers of 20 tonnes from Asian countries. They will use these to transport medical oxygen across India. They will also be airlifting a massive amount of oxygen concentrators for distribution.

Tata Steel is currently supplying approximately 500 tonnes of liquid medical oxygen everyday to multiple state governments and hospitals.

More private sectors firms like AM/NS have said that they are supplying 200-210 tonnes of liquid oxygen daily.

Mukesh Ambani also recently announced that they are working towards speeding up the production of medical-grade oxygen from their Jamnagar oil refineries. The initial production was for 100 tonnes but will be ramped up to 700 tonnes. This will further be distributed to the worst Covid 19 hit states across the nation for free.

The supplies made so far to Maharashtra, Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh will provide relief to over 70,000 critically ill patients. The company also plans to increase the production to 1000 tonnes.
