Indian Professionals Leading the Global AI Adoption Curve: AI Skills Crucial for Career Growth

In a rapidly evolving job market, Indian professionals are at the forefront of integrating Artificial Intelligence (AI) into their work, with nearly 94% believing that mastering AI skills will fast-track their career growth. This insight comes from the 2025 Global Workplace Skills Study, conducted by Emeritus, which surveyed over 6,000 professionals from 18 countries, aged 21-65, across various sectors like finance, manufacturing, software and IT services, and education.

The study highlights a transformative wave of AI adoption in India’s workplaces, where professionals are proactively learning the skills and tools necessary to stay ahead of the curve. An impressive 96% of Indian workers are already using AI and generative AI tools in their jobs, significantly outpacing countries like the US (81%) and the UK (84%). As a result, 95% of Indian professionals report a noticeable increase in productivity, far surpassing the global average.

Indian professionals are prioritizing AI skills as a key factor for success. According to the study, 90% of Indian workers consider AI and generative AI essential for career advancement and future competitiveness. Furthermore, 94% believe that AI expertise is not only important for advancing within their current roles but also crucial for diversifying across different industries. This is well above the global average of 87%, indicating India’s strong commitment to the technology.

Machine learning also stands out as one of the top five most sought-after skills in India. The study notes that Indian professionals are twice as likely to focus on machine learning compared to their global counterparts, emphasizing the country’s increasing reliance on cutting-edge technologies in the workforce.

The study underlines the importance of AI proficiency for career success and the growing trend of AI integration into work processes. As India continues to lead the global AI adoption curve, it is clear that the demand for AI skills will only continue to rise, offering professionals a significant opportunity to enhance their career trajectories.
