Indian Startup Pixxel Raises Rs 53 Crores Funding In Seed Round

An Indian company named Pixxel on Thursday revealed that they are closing their seed round with a new capital of $7.3 million (Rs 53 crores approximately). They received the capital from Omnivore and Techstars.

Pixxel To Launch Hyper-Spectral Satellite Soon

As per the reports, the Omnivore and Techstars have previously joined another companies like Lightspeed Ventures, growX, Ryan Johnson and many others. Pixxel in a statement said that they will be launching their first ever hyper-spectral satellites within the next few months. And by December 2022, they plan on launching a total of 30 satellites for global constellations.

Awais Ahmed, CEO of Pixxel said that their new funding has enabled to develop a health monitor around earth via advanced hyperspectral small-satellites. This further helps them in capturing some of the richest images that has ever been received via satellites.

When compared to other multispectral satellites, the Pixxel’s satellites will capture images that are beamed down to 50 times more than any other. These satellites will capture the light reflected from the earth in more details and in narrow bands than the usual ones in red, blue and green.

This will further allow the company to get the images of the exact chemicals with much more accuracy. They may also find solutions to some of the unsolvable issues in areas of energy, agriculture and environment conservation.

As per the reports, once the Pixxel satellites are deployed in the constellations, it will provide 24 hour global coverage in much higher quality resolution and a lower cost than any other competitor.

Ahmed said that their hyperspectral satellites will allow the society to be able to deal with some of the major pressing issues.

Pixxel To Launch PSLV Rocket In Early 2021

Pixxel is an Indian space technology startup by the graduates of BITS Pilani, Awais Ahmed and Kshitij Khandelwal. The company started in February 2019 and was the only Indian startup that qualified for the 2019 Techstars Starburst Space Accelerator in Los Angeles, USA.

The company aims to put a constellation with 30 Earth observation micro-satellites in the sun-synchronous orbit in the 2020s. Their first satellite was previously scheduled for the late 2020. But then they later committed to an agreement with NSIL to use a PSLV rocket for theri launch in 2021.
