Hyderabad : Tourism & Culture Department Secretary Burra Venkatesham today said the fourth Telangana International Kite Festival-2019 will be conducted in the city for three days.
Addressing the media at Secretariat today, Venkatesham informed that the kite festival, the age-old tradition of Telangana, will be conducted at the Parade Grounds in Secunderabad from January 13 to 15.
The Kite Festival to mark the Sankranthi festival will create awareness on education and to empower girls. The festival, which saw eight lakh visitors last time is expected to draw nine lakh visitors this year.
Venkatesham said the festival of kites will be attended over by 19 nations. In all, 42 international and 60 national kite flyers will participate in the colourful event at Parade Grounds for which all arrangements have been made for the traditional event and a special night flying for three days will bring accolades to the State across the world, he claimed.
The Tourism secretary also said a wide ranging kites in different colours and huge sizes will be flown during the festival. To mark the grand gala, it was arranged for display of cultural programs, food courts, sweet stalls will be on display at the site with lip-smacking cuisines of Telangana in addition to stalls of handicrafts and handlooms and others. As part of the Kite festival, it was being arranged for International Sweets Festival to have on display about 1,000 tasty sweets of various States and countries. The sweets are being prepared by Hyderabad people and residents, who belong to other States and countries, he said. (NSS)
