After a lull of a year, the officials of the Irrigation Department took up fencing work again at a historic Bum-Ruknud Dowlah Lake at Shivarampally, under Rajendranagar to protect it from further encroachments.
While the works to remove water hyacinth from the lake is in progress, the Irrigation officials too started works to fence the water body from Yesterday itself.
According to officials, the historic lake was spread over an area of 18 acres and they are accordingly moving to fence the water body. The tender was passed and the contractor has been assigned the work to fence the Lake. The works were grounded two days back and will be completed as per the schedule.
“The works have been grounded to protect the lake from further encroachments. As the Lake spreads on an area of 18 acres, we have up fencing work to cover the entire full tank level area of the water body. Though there were similar hurdles from the local public this time too but we will carry on the work as per the instructions from higher ups,” informed an official on the condition of anonymity.
It is said that a noble in Nizam’s era Ruknud Dowlah was founded and named this spring after Hazrath Imam Hussain RA.
