Jeff Bezos Predicts Earth As Vacation Spot Once People Move To Space, Centuries Later

Jeff Bezos, the founder of Blue Origin, predicted that the universe would one day become the home of mankind and that humans would visit Earth on vacation.

Humans To Leave Earth And Move To Space

According to Bezos, in centuries to come humans are born in space, live in huge floating cylinders that can accommodate up to 1 million people, and explore the Earth’s gravity and environment. They would create a country with regular rivers, forests, wildlife, and climate.

The tech giant said this at Washington National Cathedral this week as part of the 2021 Ignate Forum in Washington, DC, hosted by Harvard Business Review Editor-in-Chief Adi Igneius.

“Over the centuries, many people will be born in space, which will be their first home,” Bezos said.

“They were born in these colonies, live in these colonies, and, as you know, will visit Earth as they would in Yellowstone National Park,” he said. Bezos further stated that even his company’s name, Blue Origin, was in favor of the idea of the Earth as the origin of mankind, not its final destination.

Bezos previously talked about his thoughts on space habitats and named after physicist Gerard O’Neill, who theorized that other planets might not be the best place to contain humans outside Earth. We named them O’Neill colonies.

Bezos’ Transformative Journey

He  said his own journey through the Earth in July was even more transformative than he had imagined.

“The scope of that experience was much greater than I had expected,” he told the audience.

“It’s a change of perspective that really shows you how fragile this planet is in a very powerful and emotional way. I wish everyone had that perspective. ”

Bezos said his passion for space exploration began at the age of five and Neil Armstrong stepped on the moon.

“I’ve always dreamed of building a company like Blue Origin that I consider to be the way to space.”

Bezos, 57, also confirmed that he believed in foreign life.
