Hyderabad : John Thomas has taken over charge as General Manager, Southern Railway on yesterday . He belongs to 1982 batch of Indian Railway Service of Electrical Engineers (IRSEE). Prior to this elevation, he was serving as Additional General Manager, South Central Railway.
He started his career on Indian Railways in 1984 and in over three decades of service, has held several important assignments on various Zones including on Southern, Central and South Central Railway.
Commencing his service as Assistant Electrical Engineer on Southern Railway in 1986, John Thomas has went on to serve in several important posts during his career till present. Amongst the assignments he has held are – Divisional Electrical Engineer, Senior Divisional Electrical Engineer/Deputy Chief Electrical Engineer, Additional Divisional Railway Manager, Chennai, Chief Electrical Loco Engineer, Chief Projects Manager (Railway Electrification), Chennai, Divisional Railway Manager, Sholapur, Central Railway. He also served as Chief Safety Officer, Southern Railway, Chief Electrical Engineer, South Central Railway. (NSS)
