K.T.R Slams Congress Government Over Fee Reimbursement, Scholarship Delays; Warns of State-Wide Protests

In a sharp criticism of the Congress government in Telangana, Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) working president K.T. Rama Rao has demanded the immediate clearance of fee reimbursement and scholarship dues, warning of a State-wide agitation in collaboration with affected students if the issues are not resolved soon.

Rama Rao blamed the Revanth Reddy-led Congress government for the ongoing crisis in the education sector, accusing it of neglecting both public and private institutions, which has left students in distress. “The government’s inefficiency has pushed students and educational institutions into dire conditions,” he said during a press conference.

He particularly pointed out the lack of a dedicated Education Minister in the current Cabinet as a significant factor contributing to the government’s failure to address critical issues plaguing the education sector. “The absence of clear priorities and leadership in education has left both public and private institutions struggling to provide even basic amenities,” he stated.

Rama Rao accused the Congress government of failing to ensure proper funding for Gurukul residential welfare schools, which are crucial for providing quality education to underprivileged students. “The State government is systematically weakening these residential schools, while also making education in private institutions inaccessible for poor students,” he said.

He further criticized the government for failing to pay the building rents for many schools, leaving students without proper facilities and compromising their safety. “It’s disgraceful that landlords are locking up school premises due to unpaid rent—something unprecedented in the State’s history,” Rama Rao remarked.

The BRS leader also condemned the government’s inability to release funds for fee reimbursement and scholarships, which has left many poor and middle-class students unable to continue their education. “It is shameful that private colleges across the State are shutting down indefinitely due to unpaid dues. The government’s ignorance of the repeated warnings from these institutions is appalling,” he said.

Rama Rao pointed out that students who have already completed their studies are being denied certificates by college managements because of the unpaid fees, while those still pursuing their education are protesting in the streets, demanding the release of funds. “The government has remained indifferent while lakhs of students suffer,” he lamented.

Questioning the Congress government’s fiscal priorities, Rama Rao asked how it could plan extravagant projects like the Rs 1.5 lakh crore beautification of the Musi River while neglecting students’ basic educational needs. “How can they fund such grand projects but fail to allocate money for students’ education?” he asked.

He also reminded the public that after Telangana’s State formation, the TRS (now BRS) government cleared Rs 2,000 crore in fee reimbursement arrears left behind by the previous Congress government. Rama Rao’s statements come as tensions rise among students and educational institutions across Telangana, many of whom are awaiting urgent financial support from the State government.
