Karnataka Police Tightens Security in Coastal Areas of Mangaluru As PFI Intends To Carry Rally

The Karnataka Police have heightened the security in the communally sensitive coastal town of Mangaluru in Dakshina Kannada region in the setting of Popular Front of India (PFI) intending to take out a protest walk on Friday to the workplace of the Superintendent of Police in the city censuring assault on protestors and requesting arrival of its activists.

Karnataka State Police To Impose Prohibitory Order Under CrPC Area 144

The authorities have clipped prohibitory orders in four taluks of Dakshina Kannada area following vicious conflicts between the PFI workers and Uppinangady police. The police division has booked cases on 10 PFI workers regarding the occurrence. The PFI, then again, has claimed police atrocities on its workers.

A.K. Ashraf, PFI State Secretary has asserted that when the protestors were being scattered, the police turned to lathi-charge and assaulted the PFI workers. “Don’t we reserve the privilege to scrutinize the police? Would they be able to capture anybody? We are addressing police on their atrocities on individuals who were fighting naturally,” he said.
“The protest will incorporate individuals from varying backgrounds and we will likewise request the suspension of cops,” he said.

State police division has clipped prohibitory orders under CrPC area 144 out of four taluks of Dakshina Kannada locale until Friday 12 PM following the PFI and Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI) taking steps to organize fights on Friday.

Violence Broke Out On Tuesday Night

Violence broke out between the protestors and police workforce close to Uppinangady police headquarters on Tuesday night (December 14). The protestors were requesting the arrival of three PFI and SDPI workers who were arrested regarding a revolting case. As savagery broke out, a gathering of around 300 people jumped into the police headquarters and assaulted cops.

Rishikesh Sonawane, Superintendent of Police of Dakshina Kannada reported prohibitory orders in Puttur, Belthangady, Sulia and Kadaba taluks to forestall any untoward episodes. Responding to the brutal episode, he expressed that fomenters taunted cops and attempted to enter the police headquarters with weapons.

The protestors had assaulted a lady PSI Omana and other staff. Later the police turned to lathi-charge, the fierce crowd assaulted the police with sharp weapons and containers, which had been conveyed in an emergency vehicle. PSI Prasanna Kumar was cut on his hand and Deputy Superintendent of Police Gana P. Kumar endured wounds in the stone-pelting. The lowlifes took cover in the close by mosque and flung stones at the police, SP Rishikesh said.
